New Catrice Prime & Fine Lightening Make Up Transformer Drops | Review

As you guys know by now (and you’re probably sick of me repeating this haha), Catrice recently added a ton of new items to their permanent product range for Spring and Summer 2017. They seem to have watched the trends going on in the makeup industry closely since a lot of their new products are super up-to-date and trendy. I’ve seen a lot of brands come out with foundation lightening or darkening drops, and I for one think it’s a cool concept. During the Winter I can get quite fair, but then when Summer comes around my foundation shade goes up a bit. A lot of my favorite foundations are currently too dark for me (unless I self-tan), so when I saw Catrice’s new Lightening Make Up Transformer Drops I immediately grabbed it and tried it out.

The Prime & Fine Lightening Makeup Transformer Drops come in a little nude squeeze tube that has black details and a thin applicator. This packaging makes it super easy to control the amount of product you want to squeeze out, that way you don’t waste any of it. I personally think this packaging looks quite luxurious, it’s super compact and easy to throw into your makeup bag.

These Makeup Transformer Drops are available in both a lightening version and a darkening one, but since we’re currently in the midst of Winter, I definitely needed the lightening drops! What’s also really cool about these drops is that you can use them as liquid highlighters or bronzers as well.

Brand’s description:

Individual Transformation. Make-up can be individually aligned with the needs of the skin thanks to the highly pigmented, liquid texture: Lightening Drops lighten the texture of foundation while the Darkening Drops make it darker. The Transformer Drops provide the possibility of personalising any CATRICE foundation.

I really like the formula of the lightening drops, it’s quite liquid and thin and easy to mix in with your foundation without it altering its consistency. I do wish it had a little bit more pigment to it. When my foundation is two shades too dark I have to add about twice the amount you see pictured above, which isn’t very economical but since these are quite affordable I don’t really mind. I did notice that my skin gets just a tad bit oilier throughout the day when I have mixed this in with my foundation, but nothing too drastic.

Ingredients:

AQUA (WATER), ISODODECANE, POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, HYDROGENATED TETRADECENYL/METHYLPENTADECENE, MICA, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, GLYCERIN, ISONONYL ISONONANOATE, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE, POLYGLYCERYL-4 ISOSTEARATE, HEXYL LAURATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, TRIETHOXYCAPRYLYLSILANE, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, CAPRYLYL GLYCOL, 1,2-HEXANEDIOL, SODIUM PHYTATE, ALCOHOL, PHENOXYETHANOL, CI 77491, CI 77492 (IRON OXIDES), CI 77891 (TITANIUM DIOXIDE).

If you’re like me and you have way too many foundations that are either too light or too dark, these new makeup transformers drops are everything! They don’t alter the consistency of your foundation and lighten (or darken) them by one or two shades, depending on how much you add. You do have to add quite a lot of product, more than one tiny drop, but it gets the job done perfectly. This is definitely a product you have to learn through trial and error how much to add, but once you find the amount that works for you these are totally worth it!

The Catrice Prime & Fine Make Up Transformer Drops are now available at select Catrice retailers (with larger stands) for €3,59 (15 ml). For those of you living in Belgium or The Netherlands, you can order yours on the Kruidvat online shop. This is such a cool concept that makes it possible for you to wear every foundation in your collection. Whether they’re too dark or too light, you can make every foundation work which can save you a lot of money!
