If there’s one product I think Essence always kills it with it’s their mascaras. Their mascara range definitely houses a lot of hidden treasures and I always make sure I try out their newest releases when it comes to mascaras. For their Fall & Winter 2016 update they added three new mascaras so I decided to give one of them a try, the false lashes dramatic volume unlimited mascara (could that name be any shorter!?), of which the brush really intrigued me. So if you want to know if this is another one of those hidden gems, keep on reading!
The packaging of this mascara is very basic. It has a black cap, white tube with black, white and orange details. Even though it’s nothing special, I quite like it! It’s not too bulky but not too thin and I like the edgy details.
The brush is a fiber brush, so no plastic or rubber brushes. For me personally, I like both types of applicators so I don’t really have a preference. The brush is slightly slanted, which means it gets thiner towards the end. This makes it easy to coat those inner lashes without getting mascara everywhere so definitely a plus! Also, this mascara only comes in black and this one is definitely a deep black.
The formula isn’t too liquid, it’s actually more on the dryer side so I don’t know how long this mascara would last. At first I though this wouldn’t do too much because to be honest, the brush doesn’t look like anything extraordinary. But oh was I wrong! Because of the fact that the formula is a little bit dry, this clings onto your eyelashes and coats them beautifully. It adds a ton of volume but also length and thickness! You can easily build up this mascara, but I wouldn’t recommend applying more than three layers because then it could get a little clumpy and start to look spidery. This one works perfectly both on the upper and lower lashes and doesn’t smudge throughout the day. It did smudge once, but it was a super hot day and since I’m quite oily all mascaras tend to smudge on me when it’s hot outside.
Essence doesn’t claim this mascara to be waterproof, which it definitely isn’t but it is long-lasting and stays in place throughout the day. Essence does claim you get a false lash effect with this mascara. Now I’m quite blessed to have relatively long eyelashes so on me, a mascara can easily look as if I’m wearing false lashes.

This mascara has become my newest obsession!! I’m not easily impressed with mascara and I expect a lot but this one does it all. It adds volume and length without looking clumpy and it’s affordable!
