Too Faced Holiday 2017 Gingerbread Man Liquified Matte Long Wear Lipstick Review & Swatches

Too Faced seems to have started a new holiday tradition by releasing a limited-edition Melted Matte shade for the second year in a row. Last year they launched their LE Melted Matte Liquified Lipstick in ‘Candy Cane’. It was such a pretty red shade, but unfortunately I didn’t pick that up myself. However, this year they released a new LE shade for the Holidays called Gingerbread Man. Since I’m still living in Canada and I can go to Sephora whenever I want, I was determined not to miss out again. I’ve been trying it out for about a month now and without spoiling the entire blog article, I’ve been wearing it quite a lot!

Packaging

The shape of the liquid lipstick tube is the exact same as the regular ones, just with a Christmas-y touch to it. The Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man comes in a brown cardboard box with a few holiday touches to it such a gingerbread man and some white garland. The tube itself is shaped like the standard tubes, but the cap has a different terracotta shade with all of these cute little gingerbread men on it. Not only is the design of the packaging and shade holiday-themed, Too Faced also added a Gingerbread scent to the product.

Brand’s Description

Here’s what Too Faced says about their new Gingerbread Man liquid lipstick:

New exclusive shade inspired by gingerbread. Infused with Volulip™ for a no-sting plumping and smoothing effect. Creamy, matte, color-rich formula wears comfortably. Lightweight, long-wearing formula. Includes avocado oil, vitamin E, and hyaluronic filling spheres.

Too Faced Gingerbread Man Lipstick Review

Gingerbread Man is a warm terracotta brown with red undertones. At first, looking at the color of the box didn’t win me over, but once I applied this shade on my lips I fell in love. I was surprised to see that Gingerbread Man wasn’t that typical dark brown shade you think off when imagining gingerbread. Luckily, it’s a beautiful warm reddish brown that is perfect for the Fall & Holiday season!

If you’re familiar with their regular Melted Mattes, the formula is in-line with those. I’ve been a big fan of this formula for a while now. The texture is a bit on the thicker side compared to more fluid liquid lipsticks, which I personally prefer. The pigmentation and color pay-off is on point, with an opaque color after just one coat. It dries matte relatively fast and doesn’t accentuate any dryness on your lips, on the contrary!

Too Faced’s Melted Mattes (including Gingerbread Man) are quite comfortable to wear and don’t dry my lips out too much. The lasting-power is also pretty great as Gingerbread Man stays on my lips throughout the entire day, minus some fading on the inner parts of my lips. After about 8 hours I do need to reapply and perfect the color.

Applicator

The applicator is just as the other Melted Mattes a standard dough-footh applicator. It has a slight angle at the end, which makes it very easy to get a clean line and be precise. The wand also contains the right amount of product to cover your entire lips without going back in.

Scent

Of course, Too Faced added a sweet gingerbread scent to the formula, which I’m not mad about. It’s a sweet gingerbread scent that reminds me a lot of the Starbucks Gingerbread Latte scent. The scent isn’t exactly what a gingerbread smells like, it’s a lot sweeter. I can imagine this sweet scent isn’t for everyone, but it makes me very happy every time I wear this lipstick. It adds more fun to the experience of applying and wearing the lipstick. Although the scent is not subtle whatsoever, it doesn’t linger on the lips for too long.

The shade and packaging of Gingerbread Man gets me in the holiday spirit and makes me feel all warm & cozy. As I’m used to with Too Faced’s Melted Matte Lipsticks, the formula is very comfortable, long-wearing and has great color pay-off. This makes me already look forward to what they’ll bring out next year for the holidays! I really hope they’ll bring out a LE Melted Matte Liquid Lipstick every year for Christmas!

Availability

The Too Faced Melted Matte in Gingerbread Man is available on the official Too Faced website and at Sephora (in-stores & online) for US $21 / CAD $27.50 (7 ml). I’ve been looking for this lippie on the Sephora website, but can’t seem to find it. It’s probably sold-out at the moment, but I’m sure they’ll restock soon! I also spotted it last week in stores, where they still had a ton of them. Since this is a high-end brand, the price is a bit high, but I think it’s so worth the splurge!

Zo’n mooie kleur he. Staat je ook super mooi! Ik wil ‘m ook wel, ook al is het dan eentje enkel voor de Kerstperiode. Helaas nog nergens in Europa gespot… 🙁
