New Essence Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder | Review

I used to own only one bronzer that I used all the time before I started to realize I actually needed to branch out and try a few new ones. Since my ‘big revelation’, my bronzer collection has definitely grown and I love trying out new bronzers, especially from the drugstore. While I prefer my contour powders to be matte, I like it when my bronzers have a slight sheen to them. When I saw the new Luminous Matt Bronzing Powders in the Essence press release, I had a feeling I would fall in love with it. So the moment I spotted this beauty at my local kruidvat, I didn’t hesitate once to purchase it.

The packaging of the newest Essence Luminous Matt Bronzer looks and feels quite cheap. The plastic transparent compact isn’t very sturdy and the lid is a bit crooked. I do love the design of the packaging, the gold details on the front add a beautiful touch and the sticker on the back with some additional information is quite handy as well.

The actual pan of the bronzer definitely makes up for the cheap packaging. The bronzer is embossed with a gorgeous pattern and comes with a lighter shimmery center surrounded by a darker matte bronzer on the outside.

The Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder is available in two different shades:

❤ Sunshine (for lighter skin)
❤ Sunglow (for darker skin)

Brand’s description:

The matt bronzing texture with a silky-shimmering core creates a subtle, sun-kissed look.

Since I’m quite pale lately, I decided to go for the lightest shade called Sunshine, which is a lighter warm bronzer with a slight sheen to it. Depending on where you focus your brush in the pan, you can go for either a matte or shimmery bronzer. I always mix both of the shades together, which gives me a beautiful sun-kissed glow.

The formula is a little bit powdery, but once you blend it onto the skin this bronzer doesn’t feel powdery whatsoever. It blends beautifully onto the face and it is super buildable as well. The pigmentation is really nice without having too much color pay-off where you would have to be careful with this.

I did notice quite a bit of powder kick-up whenever I swirled my brush in the pan, but for me personally, that’s never really a deal-breaker.

What I love about this bronzer is that it’s actually light enough to work for those of you with pale skin-tones. Now that I’m a little bit on the fair side myself, this bronzer looks great on my skin-tone and I don’t have to go in with a super light hand. However, when I’m going to get tanner in the warmer months, I definitely think I’ll have to switch over to the darker version, which I already purchased as well since I love it so much!

I’m wearing the Essence Luminous Matt Bronzing Powder in ‘Sunshine’.

This bronzer has quickly become one of my newest obsessions and I have been using it ever since I got it without even touching any of my other bronzers. The shade looks gorgeous on my lighter skin-tone, it has a beautiful luminous finish and it just makes my skin look sun-kissed without being too much or looking too orange.
