New Catrice Rock Couture 24h Extreme Volume Mascara | Review

My makeup collection consists of a nice variety of both drugstore and high-end brands. I like splurging on makeup once in a while, but I also love to find those hidden gems at the drugstore. However, if there’s one makeup item I rarely splurge on it has to be mascaras. I just think the drugstore is filled with nice mascaras that even higher-end, more expensive mascaras can’t top. My favorite drugstore brands when it comes to mascaras have to be Essence & Catrice, they have the best cruelty free options! So when I saw Catrice added a few new mascaras to their permanent range I had to give them a try. I decided to start off with the Rock Couture 24h Extreme Volume Mascara, which I’m going to review in today’s post!

Sticking with the ‘rock-theme’, Catrice did an excellent job with the packaging of this mascara. The mascara comes in a classic black tube that has metallic pink details on it. The cap is decorated with grungy spikes (don’t worry, they’re not very sharp!) which adds such an edgy touch to the overall design of this mascara.

The applicator of this mascara is rather large, which is more difficult to apply to your lashes. I find I always get extra mascara on my eyelids whenever I use bigger wands, so that’s something to keep in mind if you have rather small eyes. The bristles on the other hand are very short and spiky which really grab your lashes at the root. This wand is also made out of a rubber material, which I do like better, but it’s all about personal preference.

The wand packs on the perfect amount of product, that way your lashes don’t get clumpy very fast and you don’t have to dip the wand back in every second or so. I find that this mascara holds the curl of my eyelashes perfectly in place and lengthens and separates my lashes. Catrice is definitely not lying when they say ‘Extreme Volume’ because this mascara adds tons of volume and thickness to my lashes. The formula is not too liquid so you can definitely build it up to about 4 layers without it getting clumpy.

The 24h claim may be a bit exaggerated, but I definitely noticed the amazing lasting-power of this mascara. It holds the curl of my lashes all day long without smudging. I also have a tough time finding mascaras that don’t smudge on my lower lashes and this one didn’t, which is the main reason why I love it so much!

As if I wasn’t obsessed enough with their previous mascaras, this one just blew me away. Catrice killed it with the formula and wand of this mascara which gives my lashes tons of volume, body and length. And above all, this mascara doesn’t smudge and wears beautifully throughout the day!
