10 Ways To Use Castor Oil

Lately I’ve been paying more attention to the ingredients in my skincare products. A lot of times they’re filled with alcohol, perfume and sometimes even parabens and mineral oils. But finding great skincare products with amazing ingredients can be difficult and also a bit expensive. That’s why I have been using more oils lately, which are usually more affordable and even better for your skin. I’be been using coconut oil on my body and hair for a while now, and I’ve been applying almond oil underneath my eyes for quite some time as well. But recently I’ve discovered castor oil, which is often overlooked and not that talked about.

Castor oil is a vegetable oil, derived from the ricinus communis plant. The use of its medical purposes date back to about 1500 BC, when the Egyptians used the oil to cure eye irritations. Nowadays, castor oil is used in so many different ways and in today’s post I’ll be sharing 10 uses for castor oil.

❤ Grow longer eyelashes
If you’ve been dreaming about having longer eyelashes, try applying a small amount of castor oil onto your eyelashes every night before going to bed. You should see the results within a few weeks.

❤ Thicken your eyebrows
One of the greatest benefits is that castor oil stimulates the growth of hair. So if you’re like me and you don’t have those amazing, thick and beautiful looking eyebrows, try applying some castor oil onto your eyebrows before going to sleep.

❤ Hair and scalp treatment
Thanks to it’s antibacterial and antifungal properties, castor oil is the ideal remedy for itchy scalps and dandruff. When massaged onto your scalp, castor oil will nourish and condition it, making your hair not only look shiny, but also get rid of dandruff.

❤ Hair growth and thickness
Because castor oil contains omega 6 and omega 9 fatty acids (helps the body to function normally), castor oil will make your hair healthier, therefore it will grow faster and thicker. Just apply a small amount onto your hair and leave it on as an overnight mask. The next day you can rinse it off in the shower and you won’t even need a conditioner.

❤ Moisturize dry skin
Castor oil can be used to moisturize very dry skin. The best way to do this is to mix equal quantities of castor oil and coconut oil and apply this mixture onto the dry areas of your face. Leave it there for about 20-30 minutes and then just rinse it off and pat it dry with a towel. When repeating this regularly, your skin should feel a lot softer and the dryness will go away. Castor oil also improves elasticity, which is why it’s great at preventing stretch marks as well.

❤ Sunburn remedy
Using the same mixture of coconut oil and castor oil, you can apply it onto the burned areas to feel an instant relief.

❤ Lipbalm
Castor oil is an amazing natural lip treatment. Just apply a small amount on your lips to moisturize and nourish them.

❤ Cuticle oil
Castor oil can also be used as a natural cuticle oil. Just apply a small amount onto you cuticles and massage it onto your nail beds. This will soften your cuticles and nourish your nails at the same time.

❤ Under eye treatment
Castor oil also helps prevent and eliminate fine lines and wrinkles and gives your skin a youthful glow. That’s why I like applying a few drops underneath my eyes every night before going to bed. In the morning, my under eyes feel moisturized and soft.

❤ Natural laxative
One of the most common uses for castor oil is to get rid off constipation. You can take about 2 teaspoons of castor oil to get things moving, or mix one teaspoon into your juice each morning to keep everything balanced.

It’s crazy how many uses there are for castor oil, I haven’t even summed up most of them! These are just a few ways I like using this magical potent. Whenever you buy castor oil, make sure you’re buying the pure 100% natural version that contains only castor oil and no fragrance, alcohol or any other ingredients.
