L’Oréal Infallible 24 Hours Matte Foundation

Even though I have normal to combination skin, I tend to stay away from matte foundations as much as I can. I don’t always mind a little dewiness peeking through, and I hate the effect that most matte foundations have on my face. They often give me a cake-face and don’t look all that natural on my skin. That’s why the release of this new Infallible 24 Hours Matte foundation by L’Oréal didn’t really spark my intrest that much. I was planning on skipping this foundation since it claims to have a matte finish. But then the beauty industry exploded with great reviews on this foundation, even from people who prefer non-matte foundations too. The consistency looked rather liquid and the finish didn’t look all that cakey after all. And since I had to purchase a new foundation (all my other ones were getting a bit too dark), I thought I would give it a go after all, and so I did.

The Infallible 24H Matte foundation comes in a partially transparant squeeze tube. This makes it super easy to measure out the amount you want and it’s also way more hygienic. Design wise, I think it looks a bit cheap and dull, but that’s just my personal opinion. The fact that the packaging is lightweight and hygienic definitely makes up for that.

As far as I know, there are 6 shades available: Vanille, Beige Rosé, Sand, Beige Doré, Honey and Amber.

I’m in the shade 11 Vanilla, which is the lightest shade and a perfect match for me. But even though my skin has never been as fair as it is now, I’m definitely not the fairest of skin-tones so I can imagine that for all the fair toned girls out there, the lightest shade could still be too dark.

With this foundation, you only need a small amount to cover up the entire face, otherwise it could look a bit cakey if you applied too much.

The consistency is very liquid, especially for a matte foundation, but that makes it very easy to blend it into the skin. I always start by dabbing this foundation onto my skin, then blending it in using circular motions and even with this foundation, that technique works fine. This foundation definitely had a medium coverage and made my skin look matte at first. After about 4 hours of wear, my natural dewiness came through, but not really the oiliness, if that makes any sense. This foundation works perfectly on my skin, but it’s definitely not made for people with dry skin. I can imagine this foundation clinging onto dry patches like no other, which is why I wouldn’t recommend it to girls with dry skin.
Even though this foundation has a matte finish, it still manages to look quite natural on my skin and not look cakey or heavy at all. It allows my natural dewiness to come through throughout the day, which is actually something I really liked about this foundation. It has a medium coverage but it does cling onto dry patches on the face, which is why I don’t recommend it to people with dry skin. But if you have normal/oily/combination skin, this foundation should be a perfect match!

The L’Oréal Infallible 24 Hours Matte foundation is available at your local drugstore for €15,99 (35ml).
