You guys!! This is probably the most exciting release at the drugstore in a while for me. As you may or may not know I absolutely adore the Benefit Gimme Brow, but it is quite pricey for such a tiny little product. So when I saw that Essence was coming out with a similar product, I got sooo excited! I’m all about finding amazing and cheaper alternatives to high-end makeup and this looked and sounded very promising. As you can see, this product is definitely inspired by Benefit’s version and it got me super curious.
The packaging is super tiny and cute, definitely inspired by Benefit. The brush is also very small, which makes it very easy to work precisely and to get all those tiny hairs.
The Make Me Brow eyebrow gel mascara comes in 2 shades: blondy brows and browny brows.
The Make Me Brow promises us 3 things: to color, fill and shape the brows, which are 3 things I definitely look for in a tinted eyebrow gel. This eyebrow gel has fibers in it, which should help fill in those brows for a fuller-looking effect. I got the shade Blondy Brows, even though I’m not blonde. The other one just looked way too dark for me.
Blondy Brows is an ashy light brown shade that actually suits my brows perfectly. The small applicator makes the application go really smooth and effortlessly. I did notice that my eyebrows looked a bit fuller after applying this gel and it also kept my brows in place the entire day! It’s safe to say that this eyebrow gel does exactly as promised and I’m really pleased and surprised by it!
Essence Make Me Brow vs. Benefit Gimme Brow
For me personally, the Essence one suits my brow color better than the Benefit one. Even though on the swatches the Gimme Brow looks darker, it appears much more grayish on my eyebrows than this one by Essence. As for the effect, they both do pretty much the same thing: shape, fill in and color the brows. They both keep my eyebrows in place the entire day and I would even say they’re waterproof.
