Urban Decay Naked Basics 2

Urban Decay is probably my favorite higher-end brand when it comes to eyeshadows. They have the most amazing single eyeshadows and well-loved palettes. Their packaging is always on point, and for a higher-end brand, their price is relatively fair if you ask me. The original Naked Basics palette is one I have loved and used so much, it’s insane. So when I heard they were coming out with a ‘sequel’, you know I had to get my hands on that baby!

The packaging of the Naked Basics 2 is almost exactly the same as the first one, except for the fact that the color of this palette is a little bit more cool-toned. Also the name on the front is now in silver, which is an indication to the fact that the shadows are in fact more cool-toned.

The UD Naked Basics 2 comes with 6 different cool-toned shades, all matte. There are a couple of crease-shades, an eyeliner shadow, a lid-color and a highlighting shade.

I personally adore the crease shadows (Frisk, Cover and Primal), they’re very pretty and there’s lighter options, as well as darker ones. The all-over lid shade (Stark) is a bit too subtle and light, I would’ve preferred a more intense shade. The highlighting shade (Skimp) is semi-matte and I think it looks really pretty. It’s a bit subtle, but perfect for everyday wear.

I had read a couple of reviews saying that the quality of the shadows was worse than the first one. I was a little bit scared of that at first, which was holding me back from buying it for a while. But I actually think the quality is as good as the first one, even a bit better. The shadows swatched a bit better and they applied really nicely.

You do have to keep in mind that the shadows are cool-toned and also lighter, therefore they may not show up as intensely as you would prefer on the lids. But one thing that’s great about this palette is that the shadows are buildeable and they blend nicely together.

As a makeup lover, I had to get my hands on the Naked Basics 2 palette but If I had to choose between the original Naked Basics palette or the second one, I would definitely go for the first one. Simply because it has more staple colors in it and because of the fact that it’s less cool-toned. But on the other hand, I rarely buy cooler-toned eyeshadows and I quite like how it looks, so I’m really glad with this one as well. You can buy the Naked Basics 2 palette online for €28 (7,8g).
