New Essence Products Fall/Winter 2014

As I’m sure you all know by now, Catrice and Essence added new products to their permanent line. They do that about twice a year and every single time they manage to amp up their collection. Essence came out with some amazing new products, new consistencies. I noticed lots of cream-products amongst their new items that really sparked my interest and some pretty new blush shades.

The first products that really intrigued me were their cream to powder products. They came out with two Soo Glow Highlighters and two Soo Glow Blushes. I got one of each and I must say I’m impressed.

Look On The Bright Side is white/beige highlight, with a yellow undertone and golden shimmer. There are no chunks of glitter to be found in this one, just pretty and subtle golden shimmer.

Sweet As A Peach is a super soft and subtle peachy cream shade.

The texture of the blush and highlighter is really soft and creamy and once it’s applied to the face it dries into a powder finish. They’re super long-lasting , due to the powdery finish, and add a pretty dewy finish to any makeup look. I prefer using a stipple brush for applying cream blushes but you can always use your fingertips.

I have always been a fan of Essence’s Silky Touch Blushes. I like their formula and their quality, especially for such a low-budget brand. But what I really missed was more variety in their color selection. Most of the blushes looked very similar, so I’m really excited for these 2 new shades.

Kissable is a plum/cranberry blush. It’s almost like a reddish brown shade.

Autumn Peach is darker peachy shade. It is the perfect blush for those of you who love peachy/coral shades and want to wear it all year long. It has subtle shimmer in it that makes your cheeks glow and look healthy.

They’re a little bit powdery, but they apply like satin blushes. I looove how they add a pretty flush and radiance to the cheeks. Absolutely adore these!

The thing I was most exited about were the Effect Cream Eyeshadows. They’re available in 6 different shades, all metallic and super shimmery. They’re supposed to be long-lasting, non-sticky and easy to apply with holographic and sparkling effects.

Brazil’s Sunset is a champagne, peachy golden shadow. It’s super shimmery and indeed has a metallic finish. The product comes out very creamy and intense but it’s easy to blend on the eyelid. I did noticed that it dried into a powdery finish, and I did experience a little bit of fall-out throughout the day because of that.

I use a flat synthetic eyeshadow brush and dab it on my eye. I start in the center and work my way towards the rest of my eye and work it into my crease. After that, I apply a light matte shadow into my crease to soften the look. Since it is super shimmery, I would recommend using a matte shadow in the crease, especially for a day-time look. I’m really happy with this product, you just have to learn to work with it. It took me a few times before I knew how I wanted to use this, but now I’m quite pleased with the result. Once it’s dry, the color doesn’t move at all. But I did notice that some of the shimmer fell down throughout the day. That was about the only thing I didn’t like about this cream eyeshadow.

Essence did a really nice job adding these products and colors to their permanent line. The stand-out products for me, were definitely the highlighter and cream eyeshadow. These products are available now at Kruidvat in their permanent collection. The blushes retail for €2,59 (5g), the Soo Glow! Blush and Highlighter cost €2,89 (4g) each and the Effect Eyeshadow costs €2,99 (7ml).
