New Catrice Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder

Setting powders and mattifying powders are one of those products that once I find one I love, I tend to stick to it without trying new ones. I always use MAC’s Mineralize Skinfinish Natural as my setting powder, which is great because it adds a little bit of coverage and it doesn’t look too powdery on the face. But sometimes I need a more mattifying powder to prevent me from looking like a shiny disco-ball. Especially on days when it’s really hot or if I know I’ll be stressing out. So when I saw this one by Catrice that’s mattifying and color correcting, I decided to venture into trying a new powder.

The packaging of this product is see-through and not too bulky. The lid is a bit loose but not that it will break of or anything like that. There is pink, purple and green in this powder and each of those colors have their own purpose. Pink should make you look more awake, purple brightens the skin and green neutralizes redness.

When I rub the powder between my two fingers, I notice that the powder is indeed super fine and lightweight. The smell reminds me of makeup I got done as a kid. You know, when you wanted to look like a princess or a bee (those were always my two choices).

This powder is super easy to apply and blend. I use a big fluffy brush for this powder and apply it all over my face, concentrating on my under-eye area and my T-zone. I did notice that this powder evens out my skin-tone but I didn’t look luminous. That’s actually a weird thing to claim: a luminous finish, yet it’s a mattifying powder. Maybe it’s because it doesn’t leave you looking powdery at all, but I didn’t look more luminous either. It actually did a fairly good job at keeping me shine-free throughout the day. Of course, after a few hours of wear my nose-area starts to get a little bit oily, but no powder will ever be able to stop that, I think. I really loved how this powder looked on my face, and how it lasted for quite a long time!

This powder does everything I need my powders to do: keep me shine-free throughout the day without making my face look too powdery. If you’re in the market for a new mattifying powder from the drugstore, this one is definitely the powder you should buy! Catrice Colour Correcting Mattifying Powder is available at Kruidvat for €4,59 (8g).
