When I first started experimenting with makeup, the shinier and sparklier my lips were, the happier I was. I did not like matt lipsticks or other sorts of matt lip products. However as I got older (and wiser?) I started changing my mind. I saw all these brands come out with matt lip glosses and my curiosity got the best of me. Now whenever I see a brand that has matt lip creams in their assortment, I have to try it.
Having tried a few drugstore/high-end brands such as Lancôme and NYX I couldn’t resist these matt beauties by Essence.
The thing is, as much as I love matte lip creams, I always find it difficult to apply the right amount on my lips. Too little can look streaky, and too much isn’t pretty either. Eventually I always find the right amount, but it’s a process that takes time. This is not a product that you can just swipe on your lips and you’re good to go. It needs perfecting.
Things you should also know about this product:
- It has a subtle vanilla-caramel scent to it.
- It’s available at Kruidvat (Belgian drugstore) for €1,95 each.
- Although it’s matt, it still has a light shiny finish and therefor it’s not drying on your lips at all
- It lasts from 2-3 hours on your lips

My favorite out of all 3 colors I own would be Soft Nude 🙂
These lip creams are fairly good, although I much more enjoy my NYX soft matte lip cremes, and my Lancôme one.
