Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Eyeshadow Palette

Food is probably the way to my heart, although makeup comes really close as well. So when a brand such as Too Faced manages to combine both, you bet it’ll be a match made in heaven. After falling head over heels in love with Too Faced’s Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette I knew I had to get every single item they released in that line. Just before Valentine’s Day they released the Chocolate Bon Bons palette, which is the third eyeshadow palette they came out with within the Chocolate Bar range. I have been playing around with this palette for a few months now, so I guess a review is long overdue!

The Chocolate Bon Bons eyeshadow palette comes in a cardboard box that looks just like a chocolate bar. It has golden details on the sides, which is what reminds me so much of a chocolate bar. The box says ‘Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons’ and has little hearts on it in different shades of pink.

The palette comes in a pink metal compact that is similar to the previous Chocolate Bar palettes. The metal is embossed with small hearts, which duplicates the heart-shaped pans inside the palette.

Once your open up the palette you see a decent sized mirror inside, as well as 16 gorgeous eyeshadow pans that have their names underneath each pan in a golden font. The palette closes magnetically and feels very sturdy and durable, while being compact and small at the same time.

The Chocolate Bon Bons palette is part of Too Faced’s permanent collection and is the third palette in their Chocolate Bar eyeshadow collection.

This palette contains 16 shadows in total, 14 brand new shades and 2 already existing cult favorites.

Overall, this palette is very neutral, with a few pops of color here and there, mainly pink. The finishes vary from matte, to shimmer, satin and metallic. The eyeshadow formula is infused with antioxidant-rich cocoa powder, which you can definitely smell!

❤ Almond Truffle: a muted mauve with a neutral to cool undertone and a matte finish.
❤ Satin Sheets: a light warm beige pink and a golden frost.
❤ Sprinkles: a warm light to medium pink with a golden sheen.
❤ Molasses Chip: a warm coppery bronze with a metallic finish.
❤ Malted: a dark warm chocolate brown with semi-matte finish.

Almond Truffle feels very smooth and blended nicely onto the lids. Satin Sheets and Sprinkled both have an amazing formula, but the pigmentation could be a little better. Molasses Chip is super intense, buttery smooth with amazing color pay-off and pigmentation that blends like a dream. Malted was just little bit dry but was easy to blend out.

❤ Cashew Chew: a warm muted peachy pink with a satin shimmer.
❤ Cotton Candy: a cool-toned medium pink with a frosted sheen.
❤ Café Aux Lait: a light to medium brownish champagne with a metallic finish.
❤ Bordeaux: a warm dark burgundy brown with a matte finish.
❤ Mocha: a warm medium brown with a matte finish.
❤ Black Currant: a deep and warm purple plum with a frosted sheen.

Cashew Chew barely shows up, but the texture is very smooth. Cotton Candy and Café Aux Lait both have amazing pigmentation and they’re very soft and easy to blend. Bordeaux is a little bit chalky and doesn’t blend onto my eyelids very easily. Mocha is the perfect transition shade that blends effortlessly and has an amazing formula. Black Currant is super soft and buttery and blends nicely onto my lids.

❤ Dark Truffle: a deep dark brown with a warm undertone and pearly sheen.
❤ Pecan Praline: a light creamy taupe with a matte finish.
❤ Totally Fetch: a bright cool-toned fuchsia with a shimmery finish.
❤ Earl Grey: a blackened teal with a shimmery/frosty finish.
❤ Divinity:  a warm light beige with a semi-matte finish.

Dark Truffle, Pecan Praline, Totally Fetch and Earl Grey all had such an amazing texture and pigmentation, nothing bad to say about any of them! Divinity was a little bit dry and I wish it had a smoother texture.

My favorite shadows are definitely Almond Truffle, Molasses Chip, Mocha and Black Currant. Almond Truffle and Mocha are perfect crease shadows that blend so effortlessly and look amazing with a lot of different looks. Molasses Chip is a beautiful lid color with such an intense metallic finish and Black Currant is perfect to darken up any look.

Bordeaux is probably the only shadow that I’m not really liking that much. The formula is a bit dry and the shadow isn’t the easiest to blend into my crease. It applies somewhat patchy and I really have to take my blending this shadow. Shade-wise, Totally Fetch is probably the one I won’t grab that often, just because it’s not really my kind of shade. The quality is amazing though!

Just like the other Chocolate Bar palettes, this one smells like cocoa. Luckily the scent is more subtle with this palette and a lot less noticeable. According to Too Faced, research has shown that the scent of cocoa is a natural mood booster which is probably why opening up this palette makes me so happy hehe!

If you don’t own any of the other Chocolate Bar palettes, I would say go for the first original palette. But if you’re familiar with these palettes and you’ve loved the previous ones then you would love the Chocolate Bon Bons palette as well! The quality is pretty much equal to the other palettes, this one just has more pink-toned pops of colors and a lot of neutral shadows in it. Personally, I reach for this one just as much as I use my Semi-Sweet palette. I think that overall, the Chocolate Bon Bons palette is an amazing palette to have with a lot of go-to neutral shadows that I tend to wear a lot.

The Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons eyeshadow palette is available on sephora.fr here for €44 (18.4 g). If you live in Belgium, do keep in mind that you’ll have to pay €10 shipping costs but if you order with a bunch of friends you can split the costs! The palette is also available on the official Too Faced website here for $49, but you can probably count on high shipping costs and customs when ordering off the official site. I know €44 might sound very expensive, but when you consider that you get 16 eyeshadows, it comes down to €2,75 per shadow, which is the same price as an Essence single shadow.
