If I were to apply eyeshadow without some sort of primer or base, it will for sure crease and look disgusting by the end of the day. I have very oily eyelids and only a good primer can keep my eye makeup stay in place. I’ve been using Urban Decay’s Primer Potion for years now but it’s getting a bit old and it doesn’t do as great of a job as it used to. I always thought that there weren’t really any good eyeshadow primers or bases at the drugstore, until I read some pretty amazing things about the Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base which made me purchase it and try it out on my own (oily) eyelids.
Starting off with the packaging, it looks plain and simple. Nothing special, just a basic tube of product. It does have a nice dough-foot applicator which makes it easy to apply the base directly onto the eyelids and blend it out with your fingertips.
The Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base promises to intensify any eye-look and to improve the durability. Especially that last claim is one that I really need this base to do, make my eyeshadow stay in place throughout the day.
I’m going to be really honest with you and say right away that I’m not the biggest fan of this base and it doesn’t live up to its claims. The consistency is very thin and sheer once you blend it out. I didn’t really notice any intensifying of my eyeshadow and by the end of the day, my eyeshadow has creased on me.
I really wish this product lived up to its claims, because it would’ve been amazing to find a good eyeshadow base at the drugstore, but this one just didn’t do it for me. It didn’t keep my eye makeup in place and it creased by the end of the day. That being said, maybe this base would work great on eyelids that aren’t as oily as mine, so definitely don’t let this review keep you from trying it out yourself if you were interested in this product! Since it is very affordable, you can easily just try it out and see how you like it.
The Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow base is available at your local Kruidvat store or online for €3,59 (5ml).
Ik vind hem wel fijn, bij mij voorkomt hij creasen wel. Vooral het vervagen van oogschaduw is bij mij het grootste probleem en daar heb ik nog geen oplossing voor kunnen vinden 😕
