Catrice is adding new products to their permanent line and I couldn’t be more excited. Seeing all the ads and pictures of all the new goodness they’re going to release makes me a happy girl. I’ve been on the look-out for these new products since the beginning of August and last week I finally found some of their new products. Not everything was already available, but I did find some of their matte shadows and this Beautifying Lip Smoother, which I’ve been dying to try out.
The Beautifying lip smoother is definitely a copy of the Clarins Lip Perfector, only about 4 times cheaper. The packaging is practically the same. A tube with a flock applicator making it easy to apply this gloss. You just squeeze the tube until the product comes out and apply it to your lips. The tube looks girly and chique and quite expensive. There are 3 shades available: Sweet Caramel, Cake Pop and Apricot Cream, which is the one I chose.
The Beautifying lip smoother is a lip balm with a lipgloss formula. It promises to “beautify your lips with an intense, shiny finish and optically evens out fine lines”. Now that sounds promising, if it lives up to their claims.
And live up to its expectations it does. It makes my lips smooth with a super shiny look. I noticed that my lips looked more healthy in a way, without any flakes or fine lines visible. The texture is not sticky and it has a subtle scent that fades away on the lips. Apricot Cream is a peachy shade, very subtle and almost not noticeable, it adds just a nice peachy shine to my lips. This is perfect to add to a dramatic eye look or to top off a more natural makeup look.
My mom owns the Clarins one so I decided to compare it to the Catrice version. First of all, Clarins has more shades to choose from. While retailing at €15,30, Catrice offers its version for €3,59 which is 4 times cheaper. Clarins’ version contains 3ml more product. Still, after all this, I think Catrice’s version is as good as the Clarins one. The texture is almost exactly the same so I would recommend getting the Lip Smoother by Catrice if you’re interested in this product. Not that Clarins’ version isn’t good, I just think for that money, you’re better off with this one.
I couldn’t be more happy with this product! It’s the perfect lipgloss / lip balm, adding just a hint of color to your lips and making them smooth without those fine lines being visible. The Beautifying Lip Smoother is now available at Kruidvat for €3,59 (9ml) and you should get your hands on one of these asap! Next time when I’m shopping at Kruidvat, I’ll definitely get the other 2 colors as well!
