Zoeva Caramel Melange Eyeshadow Palette | Review

As I mentioned in my Zoeva haul, they released a bunch of new products and are coming out with even more in November which is super exciting! I adore Zoeva as a brand, they’re cruelty free and so far I haven’t tried anything by them I didn’t absolutely love. About a week ago, they released the Plaisir Box, which contains three eyeshadow palettes. One of them has been part of their permanent line for a while now, but the box also contains two new eyeshadow palettes. I already own the Cocoa Blend palette, which is in the box, but luckily they also sell each palette individually. I decided to order the two new eyeshadow palettes they released and today I’m going to review the Caramel Melange eyeshadow palette.

The packaging of Zoeva’s eyeshadow palettes is one of my favorites. It’s made out of cardboard packaging and is super slim and compact. You would think that cardboard packaging isn’t the most sturdy, but this palette feels strong and durable. The palette comes in a cardboard ‘sleeve’ that has the same design as the actual palette, a beautiful caramel brown with golden accents. The design reminds me of a beautiful chocolate box. Another thing I adore about this packaging is that each eyeshadow has the shade name right underneath the pan. There are no annoying brushes or mirrors that take up unnecessary space, making this the perfect palette to travel with.

More on the palette:

Sweet and smooth, the ZOEVA Caramel Melange Eyeshadow Palette offers a selection of delicious shades – from soft, tawny butterscotch hues to caramelized, golden crème brulée nuances and warm toffee tones, spiced up by a sprinkle of bronzed cinnamon. Let the creamy smooth textures melt on your lids and relish in matte and shimmery caramel nuances for smoldering, rich makeup looks.

The Plaisir Box contains three eyeshadow palettes:

  • Cocoa Blend (review)
  • Caramel Melange
  • Blanc Infusion (review coming soon)

I think this is the perfect Christmas gift if you know someone who is into makeup and you are willing to splurge a little! The box retails for €60 and each palette will cost you €22, which means you save €6 when you buy the whole set.

Overall, the Caramel melange palette is very warm and I would still consider it a neutral eyeshadow palette. There are a few pops of color here and there, but nothing over the top or intense.

There’s a variety of finishes to be found in this palette. There are mostly mattes, metallics, pearls and a matte with glitter in this palette and I think it looks absolutely perfect for Fall.

❤ Wax Paper: a creamy white with a matte finish.
❤ Universal Delight: a light peach with a matte finish.
❤ Aftertaste: a reddish burnt orange with a matte finish.
❤ 182°C: a warm copper orange with a pearl finish.
❤ Liquid Center: a warm copper with a foiled finish.

❤ Alchemy: a burnt cinnamon with a matte finish.
❤ Start Soft: a medium warm caramel with a matte finish.
❤ Finish Sensual: a medium warm toffee with a matte finish.
❤ Almost Burnt: a warm gold with a metallic finish.
Edible Gem: a dark purple brown with a matte finish and golden shimmer.

Each row consists of three mattes, and then two shimmers. In the first row you have a beautiful matte highlight shade, Wax Paper, a few crease shades and two beautiful lid shades. Liquid Center actually blew my mind. It reminds me of a pressed pigment, it’s that pigmented and metallic and it’s super buttery. The mattes were also nicely pigmented and I had no trouble blending them into my crease whatsoever. Aftertaste is actually the perfect crease shade to warm up any look. Universal delight comes in handy to blend everything out. 182°C is a beautiful lid shade that felt a little bit powdery but was easy to apply.

The second row has few darker shades. Alchemy, Start Soft and Finish Sensual are perfect transition and crease shades and considering they’re matte they were really soft and creamy and they blended perfectly without looking patchy. Almost Burnt is a beautiful gold and the formula is really smooth and soft. Edible Gem felt a little bit dry and I was afraid it would look patchy, but it actually applied evenly.

The formula of these eyeshadows is so smooth and soft! Non of the shadows felt dry or overly powdery and they all applied and blended perfectly!

My favorite shades are definitely Liquid Center, it’s the most intense copper I’ve tried! I also adore Aftertaste to warm up my crease and Start Soft as a transition shade. But overall, there weren’t really any shades I didn’t enjoy.

Non of these eyeshadows creased on me and they all wore beautifully throughout the day. However, I did experience a lot of fall-out whilst I was applying these shadows, so I would recommend doing your eyes first and than moving onto your face whenever you are using this palette.

Although this palette is filled with beautiful warm-toned reds, gold and copper, I do think you’re a little bit limited when it comes to creating different looks only using this palette. There are no browns, shimmery highlights or really dark shades. But at the same time, it’s called Caramel Melange so it’s not meant to have those shades in it. Personally, I don’t really mind that since I have a ton of other palettes I could grab if I ever wanted to create a look using brows or darker shades.

Another great thing about these eyeshadow is that they’re enriched with Vitamin E and are free of parabens, mineral oils, perfume and phthalates.

As you can see, this palette is super slim and the fact that the name of the palette is written on the side makes it perfect to stack these palettes next to each other.

I think it’s safe to say I’m freaking obsessed with this eyeshadow palette! All of the neutral warm shades, the packaging, the quality of the eyeshadows,… it’s just all there! The only downside is that you’re quite limited when it comes to creating different looks, for example, there are no browns, or a black eyeshadow. But I guess that’s not really what they were going for anyway. If you’re into very warm reds and copper, this is definitely a palette I would recommend! I also think this palette is perfect for the Fall and Winter time.

The Zoeva Caramel Melange eyeshadow palette is available on the official Zoeva website here for €21,80 (15 g). Since they’re based in Germany, you don’t have to pay any custom fees if you live in Europe, which is always nice! I payed €3,50 for the shipping and it arrived about two days later, which is super fast!

Wat een mooie palette is dit. Ik vind de palette ergens leuk voor nu, maar ik vind ook dat er veel kleuren inzitten voor de lente
