Colourpop Sculpting Stix (Dove) | Review

Hey beauties! As you probably know by my countless Colourpop hauls I’ve been posting, I adore that brand like no other. I love their lip products, eyeshadows,… But one item I haven’t tried before are their Sculpting Stix. I heard so many mixed reviews that I decided to order one myself and see how they work on my skin. So if you’re interested in knowing my thoughts on the Sculpting Stix by Colourpop, keep on reading!

The packaging of the Sculpting Stix looks identical to their Lippie Stix, which can definitely be confusing, especially if you store them together. The Sculpting Stix come in white plastic stick tubes that have silver light-reflecting details on it. There’s a color indication on the bottom, which has the same color as the actual shade and comes in handy if you store these upright. The actual product is retractible, so you can twist the product up and down.

There are 12 shades available in the Sculpting Stix, both for highlighting and contouring:
❤ Gummy Bear (creamy ivory)
❤ Illuminati (soft yellow butter cream)
❤ Venice (light bisque)
❤ Castle (pale yellow peach)
❤ Often (pastel peach)

❤ Refriend (tan beige)
❤ Adulting (soft warm beige)

❤ Dove (light cool-toned taupe)
❤ Easy Peasy (mid-toned warm beige)
❤ Bloom (cool-toned medium brown)
❤ Point Dume (warm mocha brown)
❤ Platonic (deepened chocolate brown)

This shade selection is very wide and I’m so pleased to see that they’ve thought about every single skin-tone, from pale to dark skin. I decided to try out the shade Dove, as it is a cool-toned taupe, which I love to use for contouring.

Apply Contour Stix under the cheekbones, down the nose, top of the forehead, jawline and eyes (in the contour/crease) to slenderize your features, create definition. Apply directly to desired areas and blend immediately with fingertips or brush of choice- we love to use a medium to full size duo- fiber brush with good movement (not too stiff!).

Dove is a light cool-toned taupe. It doesn’t contain any shimmer or shine, but I wouldn’t necessarily label Dove as matte either. It has a beautiful creamy velvet finish. Dove is also super pigmented, as you can see in the swatch above, there’s a lot of color pay-off!

The formula of the sculpting stix is super soft and creamy and it applies really easily as well. The sticks are perfectly shaped so that you can apply the product exactly where you want it to go.

However, once you start blending this product into your skin, it disappears!! I mean, it literally just blends into nothing, which I don’t understand at all. I’ve tried blending it with a beauty blender, stippling brush, even my fingers and it always blends into nothing. It’s barely visible after blending, which does mean it blends really easily, but it also means using this product is relatively pointless.

That being said, you can build it up so that it shows up just a little bit, but definitely not super noticeable. Luckily, this product is very buildable and it doesn’t look uneven or patchy on the skin.
Wearing the Sculpting Stix in ‘Dove’ underneath my cheekbones and forehead.

If I have to be completely honest (which I always am), I’m not the biggest fan of these Sculpting Stix. The one I own, Dove, looks beautiful and the formula is super creamy but once you start blending this into your skin, it completely vanishes and blends into nothing. I had such high hopes for this product, but I wouldn’t recommend it. I don’t know if it’s just this shade since I haven’t tried any of the other shades. Maybe the darker shades work better than this one did!

The Colourpop Sculpting Stix are available on Colourpop’s official website here for $5 (1.3 g). If you’re interested in trying one of these out yourself, I would definitely suggest picking up a shade that is way darker than your actual skin-tone if you’re looking for a contour shade. Maybe then it will actually be visible after blending!
