Lorac Light Source Illuminating Highlighters (‘Daylight’ & ‘Moonlight’) | Review

Do you know what I love so much about highlighters? They’re not meant to cover up any imperfections, but to enhance and draw attention to the features we love most about ourselves. Highlighters make your makeup stand out and in my opinion one can simply never glow too much! I also think highlighters are my favorite makeup product to try. So when I saw Lorac released four highlighters for Summer 2016, I knew I had to try them out! Although they’re released for Summer, they’re part of their permanent range and I couldn’t be more excited about that!

I’m obsessed with the packaging of these Light Source highlighters! They come in gunmetal round compacts that have a clear lid. They’re super compact, yet they feel very sturdy and durable. These compacts close magnetically, which adds a luxurious feel to them as well. On the back, there’s a stickers which indicates the shade name and has some additional information. I just really adore this sleek packaging!!

There’s a total of four shades in the Light Source Illuminating Highlighter range:
❤ Starlight (white opal)
❤ Daylight (soft gold)
❤ Twilight (light bronze)
❤ Moonlight (pink pearl)

I picked up two shades, Daylight & Moonlight, which spoke to me the most.

More on the Light Source Highlighters:

Instantly bring luminosity and life to your face with LORAC Light Source Highlighter. These paraben-free, high-pearl highlighters are infused with anti-aging antioxidants and light diffusing, soft focus pigments for a silky-smooth, luminous glow. This illuminating, complexion-enhancing formula can be worn sheer for a soft, natural sheen or layered for a high-shine, dramatic effect. Become a beautiful, sensual source of light with LORAC.

Daylight is warm light to medium gold with yellow undertones and a pearly sheen. This is definitely my favorite one out of the two I own since I adore a gold highlight.

Daylight is the most shimmery one out of the two I own, but it looks beautiful and super intense on the cheekbones!

Moonlight is a warm light pink with a pearly sheen. On the cheeks, the pink is less noticeable than it looks in the pan or swatched. It has more of a subtle pink undertone, which is what I like about Moonlight.

Moonlight is a tad bit less shimmery than Daylight, it had more of a sheen instead of shimmery finish.

Daylight / Moonlight

Both Daylight and Moonlight swatch beautifully and they look quite different. However, on the actual cheeks they look way more similar, Moonlight just has a more pinkish undertone. They both apply very smoothly and intense without looking patchy whatsoever. I guess with a very very light hand they could look somewhat natural, but overall they’re very intense!

But since these are so pigmented, the formula is also quite powdery which is typical Lorac. Whenever you put your brush into the pan, a lot of powder (and I mean a LOT) kicks up. These also emphasized some of the texture on my skin, but I guess that’s quite normal with highlighters this intense. The lasting-power with these is amazing, they stay on my cheekbones for up to 9 hours.

Overall, the Lorac Light Source Illuminating Highlighters are a big hit for me! They have the perfect amount of sheen and add a beautiful glow to the cheeks. The formula is a little bit powdery, but they’re very refined and soft at the same time! These two shades are gorgeous and they’re some of my favorite and most-used highlighters these days!

I know Lorac is a bit hard to get your hands on here in Europe, but using Shipito, you can order yours on ulta.com here for $22 (5.82 g). You can also order these Lorac highlighters off the official Lorac website or Nordstrom here, which does ship internationally!
