New Essence Pure Nude Highlighter

Twice a year I get so excited for the Essence & Catrice assortment update and to see what they have in stores for us. Whenever they launch their new products at Kruidvat, I’m always searching and going on the hunt to get my hands on their beautiful new products. After posting my new Essence Haul, I managed to find some other items that I had been looking for, but couldn’t find. That’s because those items are exclusively sold at Kruidvat stores with huge Essence stands and those aren’t so close by for me. So after reviewing their new Velvet Sticks, Strengthening Nail Polish & Makeup Fixing Spray, today’s post is dedicated to their new Pure Nude Highlighter.

The Pure Nude highlighter comes in the exact same packaging as the Pure Nude powder, which is why I had a really hard time finding this one on the shelf. But after taking a closer look I was finally able to find it. I think the black packaging with the see-through lid looks a bit cheap and not that special, but it does feel very sturdy and it’s quite compact.

This highlighter is a baked highlighting powder, therefor it has a rounded shade and it’s not flat in the pan. Most of the time I really like baked products, they’re usually more natural but they can be dry. Although the Pure Nude highlighter is the only one in its range, it does come with a shade name: “10 Be My Highlight”. I don’t know if this means that they’ll be releasing more shades in the future or not, but I can only hope they do!

At first, I was scared this highlighter would be too dark and more of a bronzy highlight, which would not suite my skin-tone at all. But I was so surprised and happy to see that Be My Highlight is a gorgeous golden nude highlight that’s not that dark at all! It’s definitely a warm highlight that would suite so many different skin-tones, even lighter ones.

As you can see, this highlight doesn’t have chunky glitter in it, just a beautiful golden sheen. It is more on the subtle side, although you can definitely build it up to look intense and glowy, which is what I always do. Subtle, but definitely noticeable!

The texture is really soft and I was surprised that it didn’t feel super powdery at all. This highlight is really blendeable and by the end of my long day, it was still noticeable. After about 7 hours it started to fade away just a little bit, but you could still see that nice glow on my cheekbones, just a little bit less intense.

With this highlight, I honestly think swatching it doesn’t do it justice. This is one of those highlighters that looks way better applied on the skin than swatched!

This highlight is perfect for everyday wear, but it’s also buildeable which is something I really appreciate. Overall, I’m really pleased with this highlight and I must say I’m a fan! It suits light to medium and even darker skin-tones and I really enjoy the texture.

The new Pure Nude Highlighter by Essence is now available at Kruidvat (with the bigger Essence stands) and online for €3,59 (6.5 g). Honestly, for the price I couldn’t recommend this one enough!! Such a gorgeous product!
