Gosh ‘Sweet Lips’ Lip Lacquer

I am usually not one to like lip glosses, actually I don’t like them at all. I don’t like the stickiness and I prefer a beautiful matte finish on my lips. But since I’ve had this lip lacquer by Gosh sitting in my drawers for a while now, I decided to finally give it a try.

At first I thought these were actually nail polishes and not lip lacquers. It wasn’t until I took a closer look that I noticed these were meant for the lips and not the nails. But even though the packaging is a bit misleading, I really love it. It’s so small and compact and it looks different for once. The packaging is made out of a see-through glass with a black plastic lid. This lipgloss comes with a small dough-footh applicator.

The lip lacquers are available in 8 different shades and I bought the shade ‘Sweet Lips’.

Sweet Lips is a pale light bubblegum pink. The color pay-off isn’t the best ever, it has more of a sheer wash of color. You would think since they’re called ‘lip lacquers’ they would have amazing and opaque color pay-off, but that’s just not the case. It has a shiny finish but it doesn’t look super glossy or juicy.

The good thing about these lip lacquers is that they don’t feel sticky at all, but they do at a nice subtle shine to the lips with just a hint of color. You can build up this shade by applying a few coats but you’ll never get an opaque color with this one. I think these are perfect to top off any lipstick, but I wouldn’t really wear them on its own. They are really moisturizing and they stay on for a couple of hours.

One thing I really about these lip lacquers is that smell like delicious sweet watermelon!

Personally I wouldn’t really repurchase this lip lacquer, but I don’t necessarily hate it either. I’m just not impressed by these. But if you’re into lip glosses you might like these, although they’re not really glossy but they’re more shiny. The color doesn’t really show up that much, especially with this lighter shade. Maybe the darker ones have better color pay-off.

The Gosh lip lacquers are available in select Kruidvat stores and online for €8,49 (4ml).
