All About: MAC

I decided to start a new series on my blog called “All About“. In these posts I’ll be picking a brand, showing you everything I own from them and telling you a little bit about the brand. I’ll be giving tips, showing you my favorite and least favorite items et cetera. I decided to kick off with MAC, since it is one of my favorite high-end brands and I do own a lot of their products. A lot of time and effort went into making this post so I hope you find it helpful and I hope you enjoy this new series!

Face

  • Cheeky Bugger (satin, limited edition): A light pink.
  • Fleur Power (satin): A bright pink.
  • Bad Girl Gone Good (satin, limited edition): A bronze peachy shade with subtle shimmer.
  • Coppertone (matte): A peachy brown/bronze.
  • Launch Away! (satin, limited edition): This is definitely made for fair skin-tones. It’s a super light bubblegum pink blush.
  • Peaches (sheertone): A true peachy shade.
  • Melba (matte): A soft coral/peachy blush.
  • Gentle (mineralize): A raspberry pink with pearly white shimmer.
  • Coygirl (sheertone): I didn’t find this one on their site, so I’m guessing it’s discontinued. It was a pretty light pink shade.

  • Soft And Gentle (Mineralize Skinfinish): The perfect highlighting powder if you prefer more warm toned highlighters.
  • Studio Fix NC35: I use this to go over any foundation, as a setting powder, but you could also use this on its own.
  • Select Sheer Pressed NC20: A nice setting powder that looks super natural thanks to its fine powder and texture.

In Mac’s concealers and foundations, you have NC and NW. NC is short for ‘neutral cold’ and NW for ‘neutral warm’. Personally, I have a warm undertone so what I like to do is this: for foundation, I like to neutralize my skin-tone by using a cool-toned foundation, NC. For concealer, since the under-eye area is darker, I don’t have to neutralize it, I just use a matching warm-toned concealer.

  • Strobe Cream (sized to go): Mix this in with your foundation or apply it before foundation and it instantly adds a healthy looking glow to the skin. As if you’re glowing from within
  • Pro Longwear Concealer (NW20): Hands down my favorite concealer ever. It’s creamy, long-lasting and doesn’t crease or cake on me.

Lips
  • Viva Glam Nicki (satin, limited edition): A bright barbie pink, typical Nicki Minaj. It’s not available any more but I’m sure you can find similar shades in their permanent line. The formula is a bit drying.
  • Riri Woo (retro matte, limited edition): This was part of the Riri x MAC collaboration. It’s a classic matte red. The formula is solo dry though. Mine even broke, because it’s so hard to apply this lipstick. Because of that, it does stay on the lips for the longest time!
  • Candy Yum-Yum (matte): Such a fun, bright, cool-toned bubblegum pink.
  • Shy Girl (cremesheen): A creamy coral beige.
  • Lovelorn (lustre): My favorite Mac lipstick ever. It’s a true pink shade and it leans toward the nude-spectrum, without being nude.
  • Blankety (amplified): My new favorite nude lipstick, ever!
  • Pink Plaid (matte): A dark pinkish/nude.
  • Snob (satin): A light lilac.

  • In Anticipation: A soft pink. This doesn’t move on your lips without using a makeup remover. It’s definitely long-wearing!
  • In Synch: A bright, light neutral pink. It’s almost a nude lip liner.
  • BBQ: Discontinued.

Eyes
  • Shroom: I need to buy an extra empty palette so this shadow is still in the packaging. Shroom is the perfect highlight shade. There are no chunks of glitter in it and it doesn’t look overwhelming.
  • Sweet Heat (extra dimension, limited edition): This is such a pretty champagne/golden shadow! Too bad it’s not in their permanent line.
  • Play On Plums (mineralize eyeshadow): I can’t find this on their website anymore, so maybe they discontinued this shadow. It’s a duo mineralize eyeshadow and I really like the formula of these.
  • Cyber (metal cream shadow): Oh, how I don’t like the formula of this shadow. It’s supposed to be creamy, but it’s chunky and dry.
  • Fairylite (pigment): This pigment doesn’t exist any more unfortunately 🙁
  • Rose (pigment): A pink with copper shimmer. It’s a bit chunky so again, not my favorite ever.
  • Old Gold (pigment, sized to go): I purchased this travel size pigment not so long ago and I love it so much! It’s such a unique greenish/golden shade. This is one of those shades that wouldn’t look good on anyone, mostly on warmer skin-tones.
I always buy my single eyeshadows in the pan, so I can put them in my palettes. That way they’re less expensive (although you need to purchase an empty palette) and they take up less space in my drawer.
  • Her Cocoa Palette (limited edition): This palette came out Fall last year, as part of the Riri x MAC colaboration  It’s a super pretty neutral palette, too bad they didn’t put it in their permanent line.
  • Stroke Of Midnight Palette (limited edition): Also a limited edition palette that came out somewhere around christmas I think. The formula of these shadows isn’t my favorite, you’re not missing out on anything.
  • Da Bling: Pink with a subtle golden/pearly shimmer.
  • Honey Lust: A peachy bronze
  • Expensive Pink: A beautiful pink with golden duo-chrome shimmer. One of my favorites!
  • Swimming: A bright green shade that’s not matte but not super shimmery either.
  • Paradisco: This is the only shadow from my collection that absolutely dislike. With almost no color pay-off it just doesn’t show up on the eyes.
  • Satin Taupe: Taupe/brown with a silver shimmer. This is also one of my favorites.
  • Woodwinked: A warm old gold. I love this shadow so much, it’s very universal and flattering.
  • Cranberry: A reddish/purple with pink shimmer.

  • Brow Set (Beguile): I used to absolutely love this tinted brow gel but now I don’t care for it that much anymore. It is a good brow gel though, I just never tend to use it anymore.
  • White Eye Pencil: A simple white eyeliner. They changed the name from White to Fascinating, just in case you should be looking for this one.
  • Smolder Eye Pencil: Just a classic black eyeliner. It’s very intense and super black, but it doesn’t stay on my waterline the entire day, touch-ups are necessary.
Overall, I think Mac makes amazing products. Their stand-out products are definitely their blushes and lipsticks, although they do have some amazing eyeshadows as well. Let me know if I should do more posts like this!

I'm so excited for this series. I don't own many MAC products so this was a perfect way to see what items I'd be interested in.

Wohoooow, wat een mooie en uitgebreide collectie. Zelf heb ik maar twee lipsticks van MAC en één paint pot. RiRi Woo staat nog héél hoog op mijn wishlist, though!
